Class Information

Communication
Class Dojo is one of our main sources of communication in the classroom. We use this for sharing photos, private or whole class broadcast messages. If students are sick or going to be away, please let us know with a Dojo message. Please check Class Dojo regularly or turn on notifications to ensure you are up to date.
Our school uses Google+ and Skoolbag to communicate with the Ardtornish community. If you are not connected to Google+, please contact the school.

Classroom Management
We will be using Class Dojo for positive behaviour reinforcement as well as many other positive feedback. The children get small prizes every 10 Dojos. When the class total reaches 2000, we will be having a celebration party.
If your child has needed assistance or needed to be reminded, they may 'lose a tick', spend 5 minutes in the egg chair, go to buddy class and, as a last resort, spend some time in the office reflecting on their behaviour.

Home Learning
Each day your child will bring home their Blue Bag. Your child’s bag will contain their home learning book, reading diary and reading books. At times urgent notes may be sent via paper via this blue bag. Please check your child’s bag daily.

Brain Break
Children in year 1 and 2 can nibble on their healthy snack at any time, as long as it does not disrupt their lessons. Only nutritional foods that are raw, clean and easy to nibble on such as fruit and veggies. Please no sweets, yogurt, sandwiches etc for Brain Break. Children will be able to keep their own drink bottle in the classroom. Water only, not juice or cordial.

Classroom Supplies
Could you please donate one or two boxes of tissues to the classroom to share? We do not need recycled materials for craft at the moment.

Nuts
Ardtornish Primary School is a nut aware school. Please do not send any nuts or nut products to school.

School Times
As explained in the first School Newsletter, the school day starts at 8:50am and ends at 3:15pm. Junior Primary students who arrive between 8:35am and 8:50am will be supervised in the Junior Primary yard. If your child arrives after 9.00am they must report to the front office before coming to class.

In Room 19/20, we are happy for the children to come inside and unpack their bags when the first bell goes at 8:35am. The students then need to go outside to play until the bell goes. If it is too hot or too cold, the children are able to stay inside and read/draw quietly.

Clothing
All students are expected to be in full uniform every day. Please clearly label all clothing and hats so we can find the rightful owner. Please be aware that your child will need their hats each day in Term one and Term 4 as our school has no hat – no play policy.

Volunteers
Volunteers are an important part of our class learning. If you are willing to volunteer, please make sure you have your DCSI clearance and have done the volunteer training prior to volunteering. Please see the front office if you are unsure if you have the right certificates.

Sincerely,
